Island Hopping @ Bohol
-June, 2010-
We woke up early for our island hop. Nico's aunt arranged a vehicle for us which would transfer us to Panglao Island for the tour. Our first stop was the whale/ dolphin watching near Pamilacan Island. These creatures are quite elusive, they jump out of nowhere and in seconds you'd lose sight of them. I didn't get to photograph our sighting.

Our first stop was the whale/ dolphin watching near Pamilacan Island. These creatures are quite elusive, they jump out of nowhere and in seconds you'd lose sight of them. After the failed whale/ dolphin watch we then went to Balicasag Island for our snorkeling and fish feeding. Balicasag island is one of the well-known dive spots in Bohol. It has marvelous coral reefs and a myriad of fishes. The island is surrounded by a white-coral beach, which consists of a lot of big-coral fragments washed ashore. On the South-west of the island was a government owned resort, where we had our packed lunch.
As we travelled towards Virgin Island, the sky was clear displaying different cloud shapes. Oliver and I tried identifying dragons, monsters and other beings from the cloud's white fluffs. It was fun. We were like kids again exploring our creativity.
Our next stop was Virgin island which is an uninhabited islet with a long string of white beach. During low tide, there is kilometers of white shore you can explore but during high tide, much of the beach disappears under the sea. There are mangroves and Pandan trees around although not sufficient enough to provide shade during sunny weathers like the day we visited. Besides Panglao Island, the Virgin Island is also a favorite beach of mine. With its fine white sand and clear waters, what's not to like?
One must be careful of sea urchins at Virgin Island though. Eric, one of our companions, accidentally stepped on one and he suffered from pain after.
We returned to Panglao after enjoying much of what Virgin Island had to offer. It was nice hanging out on the island. We stayed at Dumaluan Beach Resort. We paid around P1,500-2,000 a night for twin beds inclusive of breakfast. Nico and Monique had a room all to themselves since it was their anniversary. I was excited to go back to Panglao since I really love it there. Once settled at our room the boys peed at Eric's sea urchin sting.
