Bali, Indonesia
-April, 2010-
We arrived in Bali close to midnight coming from Singapore. Both Oliver and I were tired to the bones. I fell asleep during the whole flight. Good thing my sister arranged our transfer and tours previously. Surya, who was our official tour guide in our entire stay in Bali, picked us up. He drove us to our first hotel, the Ulun Ubud Resort. As the name suggests it is located at Ubud. It was a quiet resort with accommodating staff. It would have been a perfect place to relax and stay with it being on top of mountains but we would only spend the night there. Come day time, we'd leave for our tour and move to a different hotel.

We had an early breakfast. Surya was due to pick us up by 9am. We had their local food the nasi goreng and mie goreng (fried rice and fried noodles).
After breakfast we explored a little of the resort.
We then checked the 1,000,000 rupiah we had. A peso is worth about 206 rupiah. Their currency was crazy, it was awfully hard dealing with a lot of zeros.
We checked out early in the morning and Surya picked us up right on the dot.
Like most tours, our first stop was at the Batik Making Center where the weaving and the painting/ designing of the batik is shown. They have a gallery for sale. It was quite expensive though.
Deeper into the Balinese culture, we then went to their Jewelry Making Center. This is where they made silvers from little balls to its design. It was demonstrated to us how its done. Likewise they have a gallery for sale which houses interesting silver and gold pieces.
Up next was the Painting Gallery. They have oil, abstract and paintings depicting Indonesian life/ symbolisms and the like. They have some magnificent pieces in their gallery.
